Great news for our Zapier users – you can now create Zaps to automatically find, start and stop your Toggl Track time entries from other apps!
I can do what now?
In case you haven’t heard of Zapier yet, it’s a tool that lets regular people set up integrations between apps without the need for programming.
For example, you can set it up to create a new task under a Toggl Track project every time you create an event in Google Calendar.
Zapier had a pretty neat arsenal of Toggl Track-tricks before, but the latest update gives you the most important one of them all – the ability to automatically start and stop your timer.
Starting and stopping time entries from other apps
You can hook up the Toggl Track timer with hundreds of apps using Zapier. Here’s a simple example using Trello cards.
I use Trello as a powered up to-do list. Whenever I take on a new task, I move a Trello card from a “To-do” list to “In action”. But I also want my timer to start as soon as I do that.
In Zapier, the setup would look like this:
Digging deeper, you’ll of course find options to add projects, tasks etc. to these time entries:
Using the same basic logic you could set up a number of other actions – like starting the timer whenever a Google Calendar event starts.
Or stopping the timer when you create a pull request in Github.
Or starting the timer when you mention a specific keyword in Slack (yeah, I’m also going with “Toggl Track – engage!”).

With a free-forever plan available, you don’t need to make a financial commitment off the bat when starting out with Zapier, as the free version gives you plenty of options for connecting your apps. Beyond that, their paid plans offer support for more integrations and even multi-step Zaps.
