And moving pieces come with <strong>dependencies. <\/strong>This means that if something is stuck or delayed \u2014 whatever the reason \u2014, the entire project might suffer if you don\u2019t have a plan B.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In short, planning ahead means being able to anticipate alternative routes if and when something goes wrong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Enable collaborative work<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>What makes teamwork possible? <a href=\"https:\/\/toggl.com\/blog\/the-5-communication-styles-every-manager-needs-to-know\"><strong>Clear and transparent <\/strong><strong>communication<\/strong><\/a>, <strong>flexibility,<\/strong> and <strong>availability<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now, teamwork is praised by most, but often poorly executed. And more often than not, teamwork fails because one of the above characteristics is missing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You can <strong>communicate<\/strong> and be <strong>flexible<\/strong>, but teamwork won\u2019t happen if you, or other team members, aren\u2019t available.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You could be <strong>flexible<\/strong> and <strong>available<\/strong>, but you will struggle to deliver anything good as a team without clear and transparent communication.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>And finally, <strong>communication<\/strong> and <strong>availability<\/strong> won\u2019t be enough if the members of a team aren\u2019t able to adapt the way they work to fit the team and\/or their customers. Soon enough, you\u2019d find yourself juggling with time-consuming tools and processes no one wants to use and follow.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Here again, our three central work management processes (project planning, resource planning, and task management) are the foundation of any successful teamwork.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>They provide clarity and make it easy to <strong>communicate<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Planning ahead is the best way to ensure anyone\u2019s <strong>availability<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Planning ahead gives a 360-degree view of what\u2019s happening and what\u2019s coming your way, thus making it possible to anticipate roadblocks, identify dependencies well in advance, and, therefore, leaving room for <strong>adaptability and flexibility<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Keep people happy and lower stress level<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>4-day week, nap rooms, unlimited holiday policy, <em>etc<\/em>. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, employee wellbeing was already gaining ground in a lot of organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As the competition for talent rages on (and only gets fiercer), organizations need to find ways to attract, hire and keep the best talent on the market. They also need to ensure that their people are happy and in the best condition to deliver their best work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then, <strong>COVID-19 happened<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And with it, an increase of stress levels \u2014 for a variety of reasons (isolation, working longer hours, imposter syndrome, loud work environment, health, and economic crisis, etc.).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Of course, organizations can\u2019t be fixing everything. However, <strong>managers can have a positive effect on their teammates by setting those boundaries we mentioned just above<\/strong>.
