Here\u2019s what we\u2019re changing in the product to make your shift to skills-based hiring a whole lot smoother.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Toggl Hire steps into bigger platform(s)<\/strong> \ud83d\ude09<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Toggl Hire began as the most efficient candidate screening tool. As a remote company, we struggled with high volumes of applications and tedious manual screening tasks, so we built a product to <em><strong>unbottleneck<\/strong><\/em> this hiring stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This January, we rolled out <a href=\"https:\/\/toggl.com\/hire\/video-intros\">asynchronous video tests<\/a> as an additional screening method. Video tests are great for assessing job-specific soft skills like communication and critical thinking in a scalable way, early in the process. You still get to see the human on the other side of the internet cable, but you don\u2019t need to \u201cget on a call\u201d. Makes candidates happy and hiring teams more efficient.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With the option to add Custom Tests, we ended up with <strong>three different types of skills assessments<\/strong> and no way of combining them into one role-specific assessment flow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can say a lightbulb \ud83d\udca1&nbsp;went off, and we knew the platform had to be reworked to fit the long-term vision. So the work began.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>TL;DR:<\/strong> We rebuilt the Toggl Hire platform to cover all steps from <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/toggl.com\/hire\/candidate-screening\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"candidate screening\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\">candidate screening<\/a> to the final hiring decision \u2013 meaning, you can now screen, assess, shortlist, and select the best-fit candidates on one platform. It\u2019s time we tell you how it works!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What\u2019s changing, exactly?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>On a global level, companies are shifting rapidly to a <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/toggl.com\/hire\/skills-based-hiring\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"skills-based hiring\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\">skills-based hiring<\/a> process:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2714\ufe0f&nbsp;It\u2019s a lot less risky \u2013 feel confident knowing every hire is a quality hire<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2714\ufe0f&nbsp;It\u2019s a lot faster \u2013 no manual screening or time wasted in bad interviews<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2714\ufe0f&nbsp;It\u2019s a lot fairer \u2013 bias-free screening lets the best candidates move forward<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2714\ufe0f&nbsp;It\u2019s a lot cheaper \u2013 saved time can be reallocated to more important tasks<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And product-wise, <strong>we\u2019re introducing a customizable, role-specific hiring pipeline<\/strong> that will replace stand-alone skills tests. From now on, building a skills-based <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/toggl.com\/blog\/recruiting-funnel\" title=\"recruiting funnel\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\">recruiting problems, such as a high volume of applications, but they can\u2019t fix other, <strong>bigger<\/strong> problems in recruitment:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 unconscious biases that sabotage diversity in hiring <br>\u2013 dragged-out hiring processes that lose great candidates <br>\u2013 over-reliance on interviewing skills that leads to bad hires<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To fix recruitment, we need to embrace a more data-driven approach to screening, shortlisting, and selecting candidates \u2013 and that\u2019s exactly what skills-based hiring offers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Why Past experiences and highly embellished CVs don\u2019t guarantee competence. Great interviewing skills don\u2019t guarantee practical, on-the-job competence. Top performers, on the other hand, usually underestimate their capabilities assuming their peers performed just as well as they did.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Overall, most people struggle to objectively assess their own capabilities, which leads to wildly exaggerated CVs, faked interviews, and, eventually, poor performance on the job.
