The tech sector has already announced layoffs in early 2025 \u2014 Meta has recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/brookeerinduffy\/2025\/02\/19\/meta-layoffs-in-the-new-age-of-worker-self-branding\/\" target=\"_blank\">culled its workforce by 5%<\/a>, or about 3,600 employees. Stripe will also let go of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/stripe-layoffs-staff-payments-memo-2025-1\" target=\"_blank\">300 employees<\/a>, despite planning to grow its overall headcount by 17%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.resumetemplates.com\/nearly-half-of-companies-anticipate-layoffs-in-2025\/\" target=\"_blank\">One report<\/a> found that 3 in 10 US companies are currently on a hiring freeze and that 45% will likely lay off employees in 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the flip side, the Robert Half report we mentioned earlier predicts over half of companies will hire in 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, what could be behind the seeming contradiction?
