When you receive 3,000 new applications every month, it’s difficult to delight great-fit candidates with a smooth hiring experience. For one, you’re not quite sure yet which candidates are A-players, and sifting through applications takes time.
On top of that, Proxify’s rapid international expansion in new geographies, such as Eastern and Southern Europe, Caucasus, Middle East and the Mediterranean, dramatically broadened the scope of candidates.
“These territories have a very diverse pool of Talent, which is difficult to navigate through, considering cultural differences. We saw that the hiring rate in Ukraine, for example, was 5-6%, while in some North African countries it hovered around 2-3%. We needed a more standardized way to assess all applicants and provide a levelled playing field for Talent across the board,” remembers Alexis Komarov, Head of Talent Acquisition at Proxify.
Initially, the Proxify team tackled the challenge using a traditional algorithm. The algorithm would screen the data submitted by the candidate, such as work experience, English language fluency and range of skills, and give a predictive confidence score for inviting the candidate to a pre-screen call with a recruiter. It was a solid approach that helped to pinpoint qualified candidates with a 60-70% accuracy.
But for a company that’s growing at a 2.5x rate per year and has plans to scale up exponentially, a good-enough process was not a viable option. Proxify needed a solution that would automate Talent Acquisition and Screening processes while achieving superior candidate experience. Enter Toggl Hire.
“We have decided internally to have a quick Tech Quiz for fast-tracking of relevant candidates. It was meant to early identify the 5-star candidates to give them a superior hiring process experience. And the case of Flatworld.co + Toggl Hire served as a model example,” remembers Alexis Komarov, Head of Talent Acquisition at Proxify.
After rolling out the technical quiz on their careers page, Proxify has been able to increase the predictive confidence for inviting candidates to a pre-screen call from 60-70% to 93%. In other words, 93% of candidates suggested by the algorithm for a pre-screen would have been suggested by human recruiters.
