Challenges
Before Toggl Track, NETCONOMY used a single system for project management and time tracking. Yet, this approach led to significant operational challenges. The system struggled with synchronizing tasks from various sources into one platform, and the process was ineffective and unsustainable. Additionally, the volume of timebookings was not possible within the old system.
NETCONOMY recognized it needed a more comprehensive way to handle time tracking that its project management platform did not offer.
NETCONOMY created a checklist of what it needed from a new system: it must be capable of handling large amounts of data, work seamlessly with different systems, have strong API integration capabilities, and have a minimal learning curve for the team of 500+.

Solution
Data handling and automations with API: “Toggl was just able to do what we needed”
Toggl Track was chosen by NETCONOMY due to its ability to handle large volumes of data and its API capabilities.
As its team works closely with customers, NETCONOMY’s developers often work on tickets in the client’s project management tool. NETCONOMY integrated all ticket sources from its project management tool, customer project management tool, and ITSM into Toggl Track and created a single source of truth for its data and project management.
“In this way, as the status of projects and tasks are synchronized across different tools, developers can book onto tasks originating from different systems directly in Toggl Track and refer to the original ticket number without any additional detours. The bookings are exported from Toggl Track and processed further,” C. Raschl, Software Architect at NETCONOMY says.
“Additionally, if you’re a member of team A responsible for project B, you’re automatically added to the project in Toggl Track once it’s created. These synchronizations work very well for our team. They are self-built automations, developed with extensive consultation and support from Toggl’s customer success engineers.”

Everyone on the NETCONOMY team uses Toggl Track, and its simple interface was another reason why the team switched time tracking operations from its previous tool.
“Toggl's calendar view is a killer feature. It’s really outstanding, and all of us, especially project managers, love it. We integrate Toggl Track with other calendars, so it’s especially handy when, for example, you have 80% of your time booked for meetings,” says M. The team also takes advantage of Toggl Track’s Outlook Calendar integration to turn appointments into time entries with (close to) zero effort. This is especially important for NETCONOMY's project managers, as it cuts out the tedious and repetitive work of creating time entries from their packed meeting schedules.
Data security and legal compliance
It was important for NETCONOMY to choose a service provider in the European Union that adhered to strict security standards.
“Because we work with very sensitive data and are hosting our data in Germany and Austria, meeting strict legal and security requirements was crucial,” said C. Strasser, Information Security Officer, NETCONOMY.

Toggl Track’s data is hosted on the Google Cloud Platform and adheres to all major security standards and privacy regulations, which helped create a great deal of trust that Toggl Track was the right choice.
