Time tracking tells you what happened. Time intelligence tells you what to do next.
Three things have to be true for time intelligence to work:
The data has to be trustworthy, which means tracking has to be quick, private, and consistent enough that people actually do it.
The insight has to arrive without someone building it first — utilization, profitability, delivery health, surfaced rather than assembled.
The history has to be good enough to forecast with, so that each finished project makes the next estimate sharper.
Those three form a loop: plan, track, compare, improve. Capacity tools plan well and track poorly. Time trackers track well, but don't help you plan. Project management tools do neither especially well, at least where time is concerned. Closing that loop is what Toggl is for.
